Being a girl is wishing you were stronger.

Being a girl is hoping to lose weight before bikini season.

Being a girl is always getting makeup for Christmas.

Being a girl is never feeling like enough.

Being a girl is constantly comparing yourself to others.

Being a girl is being called a slut for feeling comfortable in your own skin.

Being a girl is receiving scowls from girls you don’t even know.

Being a girl is hurtful gossip .

Being a girl is letting the wrong guys in over and over again .

Being a girl is not knowing what you want.

Being a girl is constantly being judged.

Being a girl is being looked down upon.

Being a girl is watching chick flicks because that’s what your supposed to do.

Being a girl is pretending to be on a phone when a man hovers .

Being a girl is covering your imperfections with a mask that does little to conceal your insecurities .

Being a girl is spending nights finding workout plans you’ll never do.

Being a girl is dress codes.

Being a girl is being afraid to be yourself.

Being a girl is being an object.

Being a girl is a long list of “you can’ts” .

Being a girl is hitting like one.

Being a girl is being sexually harassed almost daily .

Being a girl is men feeling entitled .

Being a girl is fighting for feminism .

Being a girl is waiting for ‘tough’ to no longer mean masculine.

Being a girl is wishing ‘no’ meant ‘no’ .

Being a girl is the possibility of rape always in the back of your mind.

Being a girl is hoping you never see him again .

Being a girl is keeping your eyes down in public.

Being a girl is covering up.

Being a girl is speeches from your parents about safety .

Being a girl is believing in happy endings until you go out into the world.

Being a girl is avoiding the eyes of strange men .

Being a girl is ignoring  winks and whistles and touches .

Being a girl is praying that it gets better.

Being a girl is wishing you weren’t.
